'ECP's Code Of Conduct Being Implemented In True Spirit'

As many as 34,584 banners and posters of oversized were removed from various parts of the district and imposed fine of Rs 400,000 on 12 candidates for violating ECP's code of conduct.
FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2018 ) :As many as 34,584 banners and posters of oversized were removed from various parts of the district and imposed fine of Rs 400,000 on 12 candidates for violating ECP's code of conduct.
This was informed by District Monitoring Officer for Election/Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmed Fawad while talking to the media here on Friday.
Giving details, he informed that 173 candidates, Local Bodies representatives and government officials issued show-cause notices on violation of code of conduct and during hearing of notices, warnings have been issued to 91 violators.
He said that 14 FIRs have been lodged against the accused on charges of displaying weapons and involving in violence during electioneering.
The DC further said that candidates had been asked to stop the election campaign before 48 hours of polling day.
He said that special monitoring would be carried out on the polling day to check the violation of code of conduct and polling/election agents had also been sensitized to follow the code of conduct.
Meanwhile, during hearing of the show cause notices on Friday, Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmed Fawad issued warning to Mian Abdul Mannan, a candidate for NA-109, and Muhammad Nawaz Malik, a candidate for PP-110, on violation of code of conduct.
He asked the candidates to avoid from carrying weapons and resorting to areal firing and fireworks, otherwise, strict action would be taken against them.
