KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Dec, 2017 ) :Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Friday described Cadet College Steel Town as one of the best cadet colleges of the country and assured all possible cooperation and support to it, including seeking a financial grant from Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The Cadet College was started in 1982 by Pakistan Steel. It has earned a good name over the period and now it had been facing financial problem. Speaking at 28th Parents Day ceremony, the Minister said Cadet College Steel Town imparted best trainings to the students along with quality education.
He appreciated the demonstration of extra-curriculum activities by the students including gymnastic acts. He acknowledged the professionalism and hard work of the teachers led by Dr. Abdul Rehman Jiskani and emphasized them to continue with the same spirit as they were the building of the nation.
More than 500 students - eight to intermediate classes - from various areas of the country are on the college's roll. He said Sindh Government was making its best efforts to promote literacy and quality education in the province, which is the only province in the country providing free education from Primary to higher secondary level.
He said all 5,500 schools in the province were being upgraded as model schools after providing the required facilities. To a media question, he said the protest by teachers was not justified, rather they should come to table for resolution of their issues.
Principal Dr. Abdul Rehman Jiskani informed that the students of Cadet College Steel Town had performed best among the cadet colleges in the recent annual matriculation and intermediate examinations. Whereas, in sports competition, this college won first position among the cadet colleges in Sindh.
