ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / NNI - 26th March, 2019) Minister for Human Rights, Dr Shireen Mazari has said that effective legislation is being done to protect rights of minorities, children, women, and other oppressed segments of society.Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Tuesday, she said the cabinet has approved to table an Anti-Corporal Punishment Bill and Child Abuse Bill to protect children's rights.The Minister said the government is also working on introducing Anti-Torture Bill to check domestic violence.
She said steps are being taken to ensure strict implementation of existing laws to protect fundamental rights of the people.Dr. Shireen Mazari said a juvenile court has started working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the federal government will also request other provinces to take similar measures.
She said a special ward has been setup at PIMS for transgender and provinces need to follow the suit.Dr. Shireen Mazari said Muslims in some European countries are facing discriminatory treatment, while minorities enjoy equal rights in Pakistan.She said the international community should also take notice of grave human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir at the hands of Indian forces.Regarding Pakistani citizens detained in foreign countries, the Minister said that she will raise for their release and providing legal aid and other assistance.Dr Shireen Mazari said Muslims in some European countries are facing discriminatory treatment.
Federal Minister said that Pakistan is only country where non Muslims have been provided their own respective and personal laws. For this purpose, Hindu Marriage Act has been implemented and Christian Divorce Bill will be tabled in national assembly soon for final approval.Dr.
Mazari Said that Ministry is working on child protection act and child protection commission will also be established. She said all out efforts are being made to ensure the ending of child sexual assaults and child pornography.
Dr Mazari further shared that in Islamabad we have established state of the art separate ward for transgender to provide them best medical facilities and we have asked all provinces to established separate wards for medical facilities for transgender.
Dr Shireen Mazari shared that besides the implementation of existing laws and devising new legislations, it is equally important to create the awareness among masses regarding their rights.
Ministry of human rights is already running campaigns related to child abuse awareness and has launched a free helpline 1099 to provide all kinds of legal assistance to the victims.She also shared her concern over Pakistani prisoners in foreign jails and said that ministry is not only trying to provide them all possible legal assistance to those Pakistani prisoners but also trying to ensure their safe arrival in Pakistan.She added that Prime Minister have also asked Ministry of Interior and Ministry of foreign Affairs to provide a detailed report about it.
She also raised the concern over Indian atrocity in occupied Kashmir and called it violation of international human rights laws.She urged international community to play their roles to resolve this issue and stop massive human rights violations in IOK.
She said the international community should also take notice of grave human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir at the hands of Indian forces. While referring GSP Plus, Federal Minister said that ministry for human rights is striving hard to eradicate not only child labour but also devising solid policies for labourers and to ensure their rights.Dr Shireen Mazari has said effective legislation is being done to protect rights of minorities, children, women, and other oppressed segments of society.
