PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2018 ) :Partial Eidul Fitre celebrated in parts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and former Tribal areas called Fata on the edict of unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan that announced sighting of Shawal moon on Thursday night.
The eid prayers was offered in scores of Jamia mosques of Peshawar, Charsadda, Swabi, Mardan, Malakand, Dir, Nowshera, Hangu North, South Waziristan, Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand districts which was attended by worshippers in large number.
Majority of the people in DIKhan, Hazara and Malakand divisions have ignored the call for celebrations of eidul fitre on the decree of Qasim Ali Khan Masjid as usual because in these areas the people go by the decision of the central ruet e hilal committee.
The provincial government soon after the announcement of shawal moon by the unofficial ruet e hilal committee issued a statement dissociating itself from the announcement and declared that the provincial government would celebrate the eid as per decision of the central ruet e hilal committee which announced eid for Saturday June 16.
According to reports, the committee received at least 44 testimonies from across the province. Mufti Popalzai claimed that 14 people personally appeared before the committee to record their testimonies.
The committee received testimonies from Timergara, Swabi, Landi Kotal, Lakki Marwat, Bajaur, Charsadda, Peshawar, Mardan and Bannu.
The city roads presented a deserted look in Peshawar on Friday as the people preferred to stay at home due to scorching heat. The shopping and trading centres are closed in provincial capital with no traffic on road.
The people have mostly shifted to their ancestral villages and towns ahead of eid on Thursday as there was nominal attendance of the government officials in their offices on Thursday.
The restaurants and other road side eateries are opened attracting large number of customers. Great rush was seen at Nanbai and Karai tikka shops where people were busy in purchasing the delicious food items for their lunch on Friday.
