Eight committees' reports presented in Senate

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -6th Sept,2016) : The reports of eight committees on different subjects were laid in the Senate on Tuesday. On behalf of committee chairman Senator Nasreen Jalil, Senator Farhatullah Baber presented the report of the Functional Committee on Human Rights on the bill to amend the Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2010 [The Protection Against Harassment of Woment at Workplace (Amendment) Bill].

On behalf of Chairman Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat Senator Talha Mahmood, Senator Kamal Ali Agha presented report of the committee on the bill further to amend the Special Economic Zones Act, 2012 [The Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill, 2016].

Senator Sajjad Hussain Turi, Chairman, Standing Committee onNational Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, presented the committee's report on the calling attention notice moved by Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh on July 20, 2016, regarding the non-functioning of the College of Medical Lab Technology.

Chairman, Standing Committee on Information, Technology and Telecommunications, Senator Shahi Syed to presented the report of the committee on the subject matter of point of public importance raised by Senator Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini on June 15, 2016, regarding the non-availability of mobile phone service in various areas of Balochistan.

Chairman Standing Committee on Communications, Senator Daud Khan Achakzai presented the report of the committee on the subject matter of point of public importance raised by Senator Lt. Gen. (R) Salahuddin Tirmizi on June 17, 2016, regarding non-payment from FWO to petty contractors.

Chairman Standing Committee on Water and Power, Senator Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar presented the report of the committee on the subject matter of starred question No.

9, asked by Senator Saleem Mandviwala on April 14, 2016, regarding construction and maintenance of Dams, the details of expenditure indicating the amount, allocated and spent during the last three financial years included in PSDP.

Chairman Committee on Delegated Legislation, Senator Taj Haider presented the quarterly report of the committee as required under sub-rule (3) of rule 172E of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of business in the Senate, 2012.

Chairman Functional Committee on Devolution Process, Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammdad Shahid presented special report of the Committee on "Establishment of permanent Secretariat of CCI - a Constitutional Requirement".

The House referred [The Pakistan Engineering Council (Amendment) Bill, 2016] to the standing committee concerned. Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid on a resolution regarding concession in customs duties and taxes for the importers of the province of Balochistan, informed the house that sufficient steps had been taken in this regard to provide relief to the importers of the province and several exemptions were being provided in this regard.

On behalf of Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed laid a copy of the Money Bill, the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2016, under Article 73 of the Constitution.

Sheikh Aftab also moved that the Senate may make recommendations, if any, to the National Assembly on the Money Bill, the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2016, under Article 73 of the Constitution.

The House also expressed its deep gratitude through a motion moved by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed to the President for his address to both the house assembled together on Jun 1, 2016.
