Election Tribunal Allows Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani To Contest Election 2018

An Appellate Election Tribunal allowed former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and the candidate from NA-158 constituency, to contest election 2018 on the condition of getting his land mortgaged against nearly Rs 30 million loan.
MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2018 ) :An Appellate Election Tribunal allowed former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and the candidate from NA-158 constituency, to contest election 2018 on the condition of getting his land mortgaged against nearly Rs 30 million loan.
Rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ibrahim Khan had challenged the candidacy of senior PPP leader before the Tribunal, stating that Yusuf Raza Gilani's wife had obtained nearly Rs 30 million loan from ZTBL and NBP as a shareholder of two companies and later on the loan was written off.
Justice Qazi Amin Ahmad said that the respondent could only contest the elections provided he mortgaged his property or pay the amount.
Upon this, the counsel representing Gilani said that they were ready to get their land mortgaged.
Upon this, the Tribunal allowed the PPP leader to contest elections from NA-158. The Tribunal also directed deputy commissioner Multan Mudassir Riaz Malik to coordinate with Deputy Commissioner Rajanpur in order to get the land owned by Gilani mortgaged inMauza Miranpur of tehsil Jampur. The Tribunal also directed DC Multan to submit a compliance report on Wednesday, June 27.
