Electioneering gains momentum as election draw near

As scheduled general elections are 13 days away, electioneering has picked up the pace on one national assembly and three provincial assembly seats of Kohat

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2018 ) :As scheduled general elections are 13 days away, electioneering has picked up the pace on one national assembly and three provincial assembly seats of Kohat.

Ticket-holders of political parties and independent candidates have launched a high pitched campaign leaving no stone unturned to ensure their win.

Workers of political parties and supports of independent candidates are displaying party's flags and posters on their vehicles, houses and shops. Youth are seen wearing caps and batches of political parties they supporting.

Due to inclement weather in day time, candidates are holding corner meetings and rallies in the evening to reach out voters. cars and motorbikes rallies is part of campaign of show strengthen and attract voters.

The provincial and central leadership of various political parties have planned to address big rallies to woo voters.

In the corner meetings, candidates are seen making pledges to resolve local issue like shortage of drinking water, schools and health facilities.

Blame-game, allegations and counter allegations between rival candidates is the common feature of election campaign.

Local leadership of political parties is making hectic efforts to win support of influential political families, social workers and notable of the area in favor of their candidates.

Candidates are using all means of publicity including messages on social media to win heart and mind of voters.

Many candidates have uploaded their video messages on thier Facebook pages as part of their efforts to convey their message to large segment of society.

Last ditched efforts are being made to convince independent candidates to withdraw from elections in their favour.

Candidates of mainstream political parties have geared up their election campaign to mobilise their voters and supporters to strengthen the prospects of their electoral victory.

This time around, tough and nail biting competition is expected in NA-32 constituency between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).

The PTI has given a ticket to its former MNA from this constituency Shehryar Afridi, PML-N has fielded Abbas Afridi while Gohar Muhammad Khan is contesting on MMA ticket.

In 2013 elections, Shehryar Afridi had bagged 61,742 votes, Gohar Mohammad, Khan who had contested election from JUI-F platform, secured 31,886 and Malik Asad of PML-N got 13,670 votes.

Shamim Afridi, the father of now PML-N candidate Abbas Afridi, had contested election as an independent candidate and obtained 19,056 votes.

The PTI is confident to retain this seat on basis of KP government's performance in which a number of development schemes, including carpeting and widening of roads were done.

Imran Khan also addressed a huge rally in Kohat last week which charged PTI workers especially the youth.

Gohar Muhammad Khan, who was the runner-up in last general elections, is enthusiastically running his campaign in both urban and rural areas of the constituency and is quite optimistic about his win.

Abbas Afridi claimed that people would vote for him on the basis of his services and performance.

All threepolitical parties are contesting elections with a strong panel on threeprovincial assembly seats that fall under NA-32.
