The light showers of only 4.7 millimeters have exposed the performance of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company and Hyderabad Municipal Corporation as the citizens have been forced to live without electricity from 12 to 20 hours while the low laying areas submerged with rainwater on Monday
The power supply went off since the city received first drop of drizzling at around 1 am on Sunday night. Almost all feeders tripped soon after the drizzling started while light showers which received in Hyderabad district early Monday morning and later afternoon have submerged the low laying areas of Hyderabad City, Latifabad and Qasimabad Talukas.
In some areas, the electricity restored after 4 p.
m. while the feeders connected with Qasimabad Grid Station remained off till 9 p.m. No official statement was issued from HESCO management regarding hours long power breakdown while the citizens experienced great inconvenience without having electricity.
Similarly, no effort was witnessed from local government institution to dispose of the standing rainwater from low laying areas.
The light showers with cold breezes also forced the citizens to remain inside their houses while business activities except restaurants and cafes were also shut down in evening hours. The maximum temperature was recorded 14 degree Celsius with minimum as 12.5 degree Celsius.
