ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2025) Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, said on Saturday that the government is actively engaging with the business community to address their concerns regarding the Sales Tax Act.
Speaking to a private news channel, he said that a detailed meeting was held yesterday with representatives of all major chambers and trade bodies.
He said that a committee was formed to go through each demand raised by the traders. Legal and administrative aspects were thoroughly discussed, and mutually agreed proposals have been prepared, he added.
“These proposals will be presented to the Prime Minister and discussed with the Finance Minister,” he said.
Regarding concerns over the Sales Tax Act, he clarified that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had already directed amendments to address these issues even before the bill passed.
“Most concerns have been resolved, and we’re continuing consultations with FBR and traders to settle any remaining issues,” he added.
