Event Highlighted Impacts Of USAID's Small Grants

A number of representatives from the governments officials, US and civil society, development practitioners, community leaders, grant recipients, and project beneficiaries Tuesday attended an event in connection with USAID's Small Grants and Ambassador's Fund Programme.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Nov, 2018 ) :A number of representatives from the governments officials, US and civil society, development practitioners, community leaders, grant recipients, and project beneficiaries Tuesday attended an event in connection with USAID's Small Grants and Ambassador's Fund Programme.

Since the funding programme was established in 2010, grants had provided assistance to organizations working in some of the most remote locations in the country and encouraged communities to participate in the local decision-making processes, US embassy in a press release said.

In the event, beneficiaries told their stories through music, documentary film, personal testimony, traditional arts, and sign language.

Their challenges and achievements were now captured in a photo-rich book entitled "Creating Opportunities and Inspiration." The Ambassador's Fund focused on high-impact, quickly implemented, community-based initiatives and the funding priority areas included women's Issues, cultural preservation, entrepreneurship, disaster preparedness, and wildlife conservation.

While the Small Grants Fund provided relatively larger grants in the areas of economic growth, education, energy, health, civic participation, and governance.

US ambassador Paul Jones, Charge d'Affaires, on the occasion said the full impact of assistance sometimes took time to reveal itself.
