ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / NNI - 18th March, 2019) The Veterans of Pakistan (formerly PESA) on Monday expressed deep shock and grief at the brutal massacre of 50 Muslims during Friday prayers in New Zealand. It expressed sympathies for the bereaved families and prayed to Almighty Allah for His blessings for the shaheeds. This was, without doubt, an acknowledged act of terrorism but the mass killer has been charged with a simple offense of murder.
If he was a Muslim then he would have met a fate worse than Dr. Afia Siddiqui, the VOP members said in a meeting chaired by its president Lt. Gen. Ali Kuli Khan (Retd).Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim, Air Marshall Masood Akhtar, Salim Gandapur, Brig Mian Mahmud, Dr Babur Zaheeruddin, Major Farouk Hamid Khan, Brig Arbi Khan, Col Dalel Khan, and Brig Masud-ul-Hassan were also present. They noted that the killer feels no remorse in what he has done.
He is full of venom against all Muslims. Not because he has been wronged by any Muslim but by the label of terrorists that have been attached to them after the great tragedy of 9/11.
Although that is being claimed to be an act of one individual but practically, the entire Muslim world is now being looked upon with suspicion.
On the other hand, the Holocaust of the Second World War that resulted in a massacre of 6 million Jews, is blamed on one individual and not an act of the entire religious community.Similarly, massacres of native Americans is blamed on settlers of those times with no reference to religion.
The Western world has to change its views about islam and Muslims if they do not want to see Clash of Civilizations becoming a reality."We, in Pakistan, are strictly following the obligation to protect all religious minorities.
VOP is continuing its sponsorship of providing free of cost armed guards at churches in Pakistan. Security has been beefed up in view of the present circumstances, particularly, in view of India's belligerent posture towards Pakistan and continued hostile posture of TTP." NNI
