Experts Discuss New Trends In Animal Genomics, Biotechnology

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Nov, 2016 ) : International conference on domestic and wild animal genomics concluded at Virtual University of Pakistan, M.A. Jinnah Campus Lahore, on Tuesday.
Speakers and delegates from academia, and corporate world converged during the two-day event. The theme of the conference was "Latest Trends in Domestic and Wild Animal Genomics and Biotechnology".
A large number of national educationist and delegates from Austria, China and Sri Lanka participated in the mega event. A total of 40 posters and 25 technical papers split over in 4 sessions were presented in two days.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nawaz, ex-Vice Chancellor, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences graced the event as chief guest. An international lineup of keynote speakers included Dr.Pamela Burger from Veterinarmedizijnische University, Vienna, Austria, Dr.
Han Jianlin from Institute of Animal Science, Beijing, China and Dr. Faiz Marikar from General Sir John Kothelawela Defence University, Sri Lanka. The programme of the conference consisted of invited talks, paper and poster presentations and panel discussions.
The speakers discussed major initiatives towards modern trends in genomics and biotechnology research and animal biotechnology and products. Giving an overview of the two-day conference, Dr. Naveed A Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan said that this conference provided a unique forum where innovative developments in Genomics and Biotechnology were exchanged and discussed by all stakeholders.
He further said that Virtual University of Pakistan had become a center of such activities enhancing the university stature at international level.
