Faisal Raza Abidi Indicted In Contempt Of Court Case

Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Monday indicted the former Senator Faisal Raza Abidi in a case regarding using inappropriate and derogatory language in an interview over a web TV against the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Dec, 2018 ) :Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Monday indicted the former Senator Faisal Raza Abidi in a case regarding using inappropriate and derogatory language in an interview over a web tv against the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar.

ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand resumed the hearing of the case whereas charges were framed during the hearing.

The defense counsel pleaded the court that Abidi was not guilty of the charges leveled against him in the court. His client was a patient, needed treatment and urged for shifting from Jail to a good hospital which was his fundamental right, he added.

The court ordered for medical checkup of Abidi after which the decision would be taken for his shifting from jail to the hospital.

The ATC judge also rejected the appeal of the Abidi's counsel for post arrest bail over health grounds which had earlier been refused by the said court.

The court after indictment also summoned three prosecution witnesses for testimony before the court in the next hearing that is fixed for January 3.

Anchor Shanzay Rehman which hosted such interview had already been declared proclaimed offender by the court.

It is pertinent to mention that Abidi was arrested outside Supreme Court of Pakistan building in October by the Secretariat Police after registering First Information Report for using defamatory and insulting language against the chief justice and the judiciary in an interview.
