Farmers' Organization Announces Support For Construction Of Dams

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Aug, 2018 ) :The Sindh Abadgar Ittehad, which is a farmers' lobbying group, has announced support for Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar's initiative for construction of dams.

The announcement was made here on Sunday after a meeting of the group chaired by its President Nawab Zubair Talpur.

Talpur suggested that the Federal government should consider levying a tax of Rs10 on the agricultural products like fertilizer and pesticides to collect funds for the dams.

He proposed that the industries which produce agricultural inputs should also be levied a similar amount of tax for the Bhasha and Mohamand dams.

He expressed hope that the construction of Bhasha and Mohamand dams would increase the supply of water for agriculture.
