FATA Health Directorate conducts hepatitis screening camps in tribal belt

PESHAWAR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -6th Sept,2016) : Under the directives of Governor Khyber PakhtunKhwa Iqbal Zafar Jagra, Director Health Services FATA Dr. Jawad Habib Khan arranged free hepatitis screening camps under the supervision of Programme Manager Hepatitis Control Programme FATA in the targeted areas of Khyber Agency, Bajaur Agency and FR Peshawar during the last month.

A total 3080 screenings were carried out, in which 176 cases where confirmed for Hepatitis B and C. The cases recorded in Khyber Agency were 80, in Bajaur Agency 72 and in FR Peshawar 24. The positive cases were referred to PCR Lab FATA Secretariat for final confirmation and treatment; whereas a total of 127 patients were tested in PCR Lab and amongst them 60 cases were detected with HBS/HCV.

All such camps for hepatitis screenings will be conducted in entire FATA continuously so as to treat positive cases accordingly, said FATA Director Health Services.
