FDA Imparts Skill Development Training To 58,121 Fata Youth

A total of 58,121 youth of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) including 26,654 male and 31,467 female have so far completed various skilled development training courses arranged by Fata Development Authority (FDA).
According to FDA official, the Authority has arranged Rs 1,118 million interest free credit facility to over 37,593 fata youth from " Akhuwat" to enable them to start their own small businesses and earn respectable income for their families. He said on job training is another programme under which the youth are attached to various reputed organizations to gain experience in the relevant field. The main aim of imparting skilled training was to divert youth's attentions to constructive activities.
He said FDA was striving to provide educated youth more facilities. The training courses including plumbing, pipe fitting, UPS assembling, dress designing,etc. He said 17 institutes have so far been revamped and strengthened throughout the erstwhile Fata.
Also technical scholarships have been awarded to 19,000 students to study in well known institutes of the country. This includes 22 FATA students, who have passed out from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIK) while 39 FATA students are presently enrolled in this institute. The passed-out students have found jobs in reputed organizations of the country.
Meanwhile, FDA was also planning to initiate various other skill development training courses in collaboration with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) for terrorism effected youth of North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram and Mohmand districts and attached sub divisions of Tank, DI Khan, Bannu, Lakki Mawat, Kohat and Peshawar.
The courses included mobile repairing, computer operator including AutoCad, industrial electrician, tailoring (female), embroidery (female), knitting (female) and quantity survey. The 6 month training course features monthly stipend and free lodging and boarding facility.
