Finance Minister Likely To Approve Hike In Electricity Tariff

A meeting of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will be held today

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 25th September, 2018) The government is considering to increase the electricity tariff.

A meeting of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will be chaired by Finance Minister Asad Umar today where the recommendation to increase electricity tariff will be put forth.

A summary to increase electricity tariff by Rs 4 will be given to the finance minister for approval in today’s meeting.

According to the summary prepared by the Energy Ministry, electricity tariff are expected to be increase by minimum Rs 2 or maximum Rs 4 per unit.

Sources said that the consumers using 50 units of electricity are suggested to be increased from Rs 2 to Rs 4-6 per unit, charges of 100 units to be increased from Rs 5.79 to Rs 7-9 while after the use of 200 units, the electricity units can increase from Rs 8.11 to Rs 10-12.
