LAHORE- (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News- 18th April 2019) Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Firdous Ashiq Awan as an advisor to the PM on information and broadcasting, according to tv reports.
The senior politician from Sialkot who lost the election on MNA seat from her home constituency has been given responsibility after Fawad Chaudhry’s resignation as information minister. Awan joined the PTI before the general elections of 2018.
She was elected the first time in 2002 on the seat of National Assembly and succeeded in the party PML (Q).
In 2008, she was elected again by joining Pakistan People's Party on the seat of National Assembly and was successful. She was in the office of Federal Minister for National Regulation and Services.
She presented her resignation to Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani on December 25, 2011, during the Special Federal Cabinet Meeting. It was later declined by the Prime Minister after holding a one-to-one meeting with Awan.
Awan joined the PTI on May 30, 2017, and since then she has been an outspoken defender of PTI policies.
