Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22nd May, 2019) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhry came under fire for making distasteful remarks about Federal Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan.
Talal Chaudhry while commenting on the state of the nation said, "This is kind of tabdeeli, if baji Firdous Ashiq Awan got her face washed, the way her real looks would emerge from behind her makeup, she would appear as Firdous Khan instead, this is also the real face of this tabdeeli".
As the video went viral, people condemned these remarks and demanded an apology. Talal Chaudhry's own party leaders didn't support his such disgusting remarks about a female.
Ahsan Iqbal while expressing displeasure over Talal Chaudhry remarks said that inappropriate language against women is not acceptable at any cost.
Now after widespread criticism on social media, the PML-N leader has also apologized for his misogynist remarks against Firdous Ashiq Awan.
In his message on Twitter, he said, "My intention was not to hurt anyone but if my statement or example was not appropriate then I apologize for it".
Misogyny and sexism is deeply rooted in Pakistani society, more so in our politics.
Every now and then, politicians make certain remarks about female politicians that are not only bad in taste but also very sexist and misogynist.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan was criticised for calling Bilawal Bhutto Zardari "Sahiba" during a public meeting in Wana.
