PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Aug, 2024) The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) was experiencing severe pressure as incidents of forced activation of feeders from Bannu Grid Station and Kuram Garhi Grid Station alarmingly increased, said a spokesperson on Monday.
As part of those incidents, the company’s spokesperson said that last night, several protesters forcibly entered the grid stations and turned on all feeders.
He said that the protesters manhandled and intimidated the grid station staff, compelling them to turn on the feeders.
"Videos show protesters using metal tools to activate the feeders, which can lead to dangerous accidents," he added.
The PESCO spokesperson further explained, "Feeders are sometimes turned off for maintenance work, and forcibly activating them during these times can pose a risk to the staff's lives."
"All feeders connected to the Bannu Grid Station are registering high-loss feeders," he added.
As a result, he added that the load management duration on these feeders was also longer.
He said Pesco was initiating legal action against the protesters to prevent such incidents in the future.
