Foreign Assets Case: CJP Orders Aleema Khan To Deposit Rs 29.4 Million In FBR

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th December, 2018) The Supreme Court has ordered Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan to deposit Rs 29.4 million in the Federal board of Revenue (FBR).
A hearing on suo motu case on foreign bank accounts and assets owned by Pakistani nationals was held by three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday.
The while ordered Aleema Khan to deposit Rs 29.5 million in taxes and fine.

During the hearing, the CJP asked Aleema, “How much did you buy the property for?” To this, Aleema responded, “I bought it for $370,000.”
The CJP then asked when the property was bought, to which, she said, “I bought it in 2008 and sold it last year.
”
The CJP questioned if she bought the property with her own money while Aleema responded, “I paid half the money by taking loan from bank and the other half was my own money.”
Aleema’s counsel Salman Akram Raja then said, “We have submitted details of bank transactions and accounts in court.”
The CJP remarked, “Then deposit Rs 18 million within a week.”
At this, the commissioner inland who probed Aleema Khan’s tax details informed the court, “As per our estimate in keeping with the documents, Aleema has to file tax returns worth Rs 29.5 million.”
The bench further remarked, "Aleema Khan will have right of appeal, however, before that she will have to file income tax returns."
Justice Nisar added, "If the deposit is not made then her property will be seized."
