Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th January, 2018) At least four people, including two women, were killed in a firing incident near Sahiwal toll plaza on GT Road on Saturday.
Initial reports said that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) special unit allegedly opened fire at a car coming from Lahore.
The two children present in the car managed to escape the scene. The children in their conversation at a nearby petrol pump said the police killed their parents.
The local police has not given any statement on the incident.
Media reports said that there was no check-post. The CTD officials had stopped the car and opened fire at the passengers.
One child was also injured in the incident who has been shifted to hospital for treatment, media reports further said.
The CTD in its statement said that it had stopped one motorcycle and a car. The CTD said that there were kidnappers inside the car and the children were recovered by them. Moreover, they said that weapons and suicide jackets have also been recovered from them.
Three terrorists fled from the scene, the CTD added.
Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan said that the Punjab IG has sought a report from Regional Police Officer (RPO) in an hour. The situation will then be cleared, he said.
