
Fourth Monsoon Spell To Bring Heavy Rain; PDMA Punjab DG Issues Safety Advisory

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2025) Director General (DG) of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Irfan Ali Khatia Saturday urged the citizens to exercise caution and stay informed through official weather updates, as the fourth spell of monsoon is forecast to begin on July 20 (tomorrow) with heavy rains and thunderstorms expected in several regions, including Punjab.
In an exclusive talk with a local news channel, Irfan Ali Khatia highlighted that several regions, including Punjab, KPK were likely to experience intense weather conditions, which could disrupt daily life and increase the risk of urban flooding and road blockages.
He urged the residents, particularly in low-lying and vulnerable areas, to avoid unnecessary travel and to cooperate with local authorities during emergency response operations.
The PDMA, he added, is fully prepared to respond to any situation and is coordinating with local administrations to ensure timely action. He also encouraged the public to report any emergencies promptly and to follow safety advisories issued through verified government channels.
According to the Meteorological Department, rain is also expected today in some parts of Punjab, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he added.
The PDMA, along with other concerned authorities, has strongly appealed to the public to stay away from rivers, streams and other potentially hazardous areas during the ongoing and upcoming monsoon rains, he said.
With the risk of flash floods and sudden water surges, citizens are advised to prioritize safety and avoid venturing into areas that could pose a threat to life and property, he urged.
In case of any emergency, residents are urged to act swiftly and contact Rescue 1122 for immediate assistance. The authorities have assured that emergency response teams are on high alert and ready to respond to calls around the clock, he said, adding, people are also encouraged to stay updated through official channels and follow safety guidelines issued by local administrations.
He said rain is expected in Lahore, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Shakargarh, Narowal and several other districts of the province. Rains are expected in Chakwal, Sargodha, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the Potohar region.
