From Blind Murders To Swift Justice: AI Sky Eye Elevates ICT To 93rd Safest City With 2,700 Arrests

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) In a city where unsolved murders once cast shadows over entire neighborhoods, Islamabad Police's artificial intelligence-powered Sky Eye system is quietly rewriting the future of crime prevention. From recovering abducted children to identifying killers from fuzzy CCTV clips, the technology has already enabled over 2,700 arrests since its deployment.
The most striking case was the blind murder of Abdullah in G-10, whose family had nearly lost hope after no eyewitnesses came forward. “The breakthrough came when Sky Eye traced the killer’s movement from a blurry camera angle, using AI-assisted face matching,” a senior officer of ICT Police told APP. The suspect was arrested within 48 hours.
In another high-profile incident, Sky Eye identified a man abducting a six-year-old girl in I-9 — a case that had terrified local residents. “The child was rescued the same day because the system triggered alerts by tracking license plates and movement patterns,” he said.
Police also cited the recent 20-hour-long digital surveillance operation that led to the recovery of a teenager traced through over 300 analyzed call records and social media patterns. In another major breakthrough, Sky Eye assisted in solving a blind murder case in Mansehra, where a former police officer was among the suspects — all identified using facial mapping and movement history.
According to officials, the AI system integrates more than 1,800 high-resolution cameras, facial recognition, vehicle tracking, and predictive analysis tools across Islamabad. Over 140 cases have been resolved using purely technical means, while 350 domestic workers were verified and registered through digital background checks.
Authorities said that nearly Rs. 12 crore worth of stolen property has been recovered using the system. During Muharram, the IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi personally oversaw the surveillance of over 900 processions and majalis with zero major incident reported — part of the police’s "zero tolerance" policy against violence and crime.
A senior ICT police official told APP that these innovations have helped Islamabad rise to the 93rd spot on the Global Safe City Index — the safest in Pakistan. “This transformation is not accidental; it's the result of strategic innovation in policing,” he said.
The official added that the AI system helps verify suspects instantly, check records during patrols, and issue alerts in real time. “Just last month, a wanted fugitive was arrested at a metro station with minimal public disruption.”
Sky Eye footage has become Primary evidence in hundreds of court cases, accelerating convictions. “Prosecutors now rely heavily on this data to secure verdicts,” a police spokesperson noted.
Citizens say they feel safer. “Earlier we feared venturing out after dark. Now, even my kids feel safe,” said Saba Iqbal of G-13. Market vendors report reduced harassment and street crime.
IGP Rizvi called the change a “revolution in public safety,” with plans to expand capabilities and offer a policing model for the region. With 2,700 arrests, dozens of lives saved, and confidence rebuilt, Sky Eye is more than a camera system — it's Islamabad’s eye for justice.
