The students from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and other cities of the country took part in the conference and had inclusive discussions with their counterparts from various villages of Gilgit and Hunza to help them develop debating and analytical skills, a press release said.

The four-day conference, which was held from July 4-7, included training sessions by motivational speakers and a debates coach. The sessions resulted into active and passionate debates at night encircling camp fire on human rights, particularly with reference to Pakistan.

The issues regarding women empowerment, equal opportunities and unemployment challenges were also brought under consideration and the participants provided very logical and progressive approaches to the matters. The general election 2018 was also highlighted in the discussion in which many obstacles and approaches were discussed.

The moot was held in the beautiful village of Karimabad, formerly known as Baltit, the capital of Hunza Valley. It is among one of the best tourist sites in Pakistan with the historic village of Karimabad where Altit Ford, 750 years old, and Baltit Fort, 1000 years old, were visited by the participants.

The conference paved way for local students to learn the emerging art of public speaking and debates within beautiful gardens filled with mulberries, apples, and apricots more juicy than anywhere in Pakistan.

It was said that the local people with their unique culture and beauty were complicated in their treatment to outsiders at times yet they were welcoming as tourism brings business to them.

Interestingly, the participating students witnessed not even a single beggar in the entire area of Hunza and Gilgit which is home to the highest peaceful border of the world with at least seven highest peaks at its doors.

A visit to the royal Palace of Prince Salman of Gilgit was organized for the participants where they met the Prince and discussed the aforementioned topics. He appreciated the participants and trainers for their interest for coming all the way to Hunza to train and engage the local students in the activities. The students accompanied by the Prince later visited the royal gardens.

At nights the local participants would gather to make camp fire for the outstation participants while playing local tunes on Rubab and flute, and dancing. Tales of the beautiful Hunza and Nagar valley were told as they would do barbeque at the camp fire.

The camping site, the guest house, the hotel rooms, the travel to and from Islamabad on NATCO buses were arranged by the GB Governor House.
