GDA To Take Solid Steps For Galiyat Development, More Facilities To Be Provided To Tourists: DG GDA

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Oct, 2018 ) :Solid steps would be taken for the development of Galiyat, removal of encroachments, conservation of water resources and provision of more facilities to the tourists visiting the area from various parts of the country said newly appointed Director General Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) Raza Ali Habib.
Talking to APP, he said new proposals were being prepared for promoting tourism, improvement of basic infrastructure of Galiyat including construction of new roads particularly in far-flung areas with an aim to provide better facilities to the local residents and tourists.
He informed that all out efforts would be made to address long standing issue of supply of water for different areas of Galiyat. New water supply schemes would be launched, he added.
Raza Ali said, the GDA was a profitable organization and the department had succeeded to recover Rs 210 million out of Rs 970 million outstanding dues from the defaulters.
He expressed the hope that nearly Rs 200 million would also be recovered from the defaulters within current fiscal year.
To a question, he informed that efforts would be made to achieve Rs 300 million revenue target fixed for current fiscal year.
He said, proposals had been prepared to achieve several other targets for the development of the area.
To another question about Ayubia Chairlift the DG said it was a unique project in its kind when it was launched due to which some technical issues were faced but now the homework had been completed.
He informed that GDA would make efforts to purchase latestmachinery so that during snowfall season, the roads of the area could becleared within shortest possible time frame.
