Gehwara Centre Stopped From Taking Destitute Babies Into Custody In Multan

The divisional administration stopped Gehwara Centre Multan, a facility tasked with taking care of the destitute newborns, from taking babies into custody or handing them over to issueless parents
In-charge Gehwara Centre Multan Komal Ijaz told APP that a notification was issued in this regard from commissioner's office Multan on Nov 28, 2018, stopping Gehwara Centre from taking the destitute newborn babies in custody and added that the authority had been given to Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB).
She said that Gehwara Centre was now taking care of three kids below the age of six year, who were already in its custody and they have been told not to hand them over to issueless parents.
She said that the Social Welfare Department has also stopped the Centre from taking any action in this regard.
