German tourist mugged in Lahore

Robbers took away iPhone, other belongings and slapped him when he attempted to resist

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-August 3rd, 2024) A German tourist, identified as 27-year-old Berg Florian, was robbed in Lahore while camping near the airport, the police said on Saturday.

The victim said that two armed individuals attacked him, stole a high-value mobile phone, cash, and a camera worth Rs500,000.

According to Florian, the assault occurred suddenly as he was camping in the area. The robbers not only took his belongings but also physically assaulted him.

After the attack, Florian, in a distressed state, managed to mount his bicycle but collapsed in front of a Rangers office. Bystanders quickly transported him to a hospital, where he received medical treatment.

Florian alleged that he informed the patrolling Dolphin Force about the incident. However, he claimed that the officials demanded money from him and failed to take any action.

Following this, he, along with witnesses, filed a formal complaint at the North Cantonment Police Station.

The North Cantonment Police arrived at the scene and used the CCTV footage and other resources to trace the suspects.

A case was also registered against the two unknown individuals based on Florian’s complaint.

Under DSP North Cantonment, a special team was formed to arrest the suspects.

SP Cantonment Owais Shafiq said that the suspects would be captured soon and brought to justice.

Florian recorded his statement by saying that he was sleeping in a park near Guldasht Town when the robbers approached him.

“ At gunpoint, they stole his iPhone, 500 US Dollars, 5,000 Pakistani rupees, and his camera, and slapped him when he attempted to resist,” he complained.
