QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Aug, 2024) Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandukhail on Tuesday directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to focus on developing its national highways and ensure its timely completion with standard.
He said that completion of works on highways would not only boost our economy but also improve the lives of our citizens.
He expressed these views while giving a briefing to National Highway Authority West Zone Member Basharat Hussain at Governor House Quetta.
Governor Balochistan said that national highways have a key role in the construction and development of the country and provinces.
He said that in the context of Balochistan, Karachi to Chaman N25 and Quetta to Zhob N50 highways should be given more priority as they were important national highways connecting Balochistan with other provinces.
He said that it has been observed that by assigning manageable tasks to the respective contractors to ensure the timely completion of national highways, they would not only complete their part of the work within the stipulated time while it also made the consortium companies accountable.
He said that for standard construction of national highways, adherence to pre-approved structures and use of standard materials could be beneficial.
The Governor said that the speed of construction of all bridges in the province should be accelerated.
Emphasizing on the construction of a flyover near the Western Bypass Khizi Chowk in the provincial capital Quetta, he said that the construction of a flyover on the Western By would help in smooth traffic flow, reducing congestion and promoting economic development.
