GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2018 ) ::Information Adviser Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Shams Mir on Thursday said the government was taking concrete measures for the socio-economic development of the region.
Talking in the meetings with delegations of local elders, he said GB served as link with international market and its villages, cities were being inter-connected through roads, which would boost economic activities in the area.
The region would become hub of economic activities in future as a result of prudent economic policies of the government, he said adding that it would lead to prosperity of the area. He said the provincial government had upgraded all sectors due to which business activities especially tourism and hotel industries had improved and generating handsome revenue.
He said about 150,000 labourers were employed on different mega projects in last season, adding that the number of employment would further increase to 200,000. This was made possible due to peaceful environment which was prerequisite for investment, he maintained.
He reiterated that peace was restored in the region in wake of wise policies of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He said before the PML(N) government, the country was facing different challenges including load shedding, terrorism. The PML(N) after coming into power has resolved these issues and put the country on the road to progress, he added.
