Govt ends NOC requirement for foreign tourists

In what is being termed as another leap forward, Pakistan has ended the NOC regime for foreigners.

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th March, 2019) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has lifted the No Objection Certificate (NOC) requirement for foreign tourists.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said in a tweet that this is in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision to make Pakistan a heaven for tourists.

“Another landmark acheived NOC regime for foreigners come to an end, ⁦@ImranKhanPTI⁩ vision is to make Pak a heaven for tourists and following new Visa regime this important policy decision of ending NOC requirements is a leap forward #DiscoverPakistan,” he wrote.

The new visa policy is one of the major initiatives taken by the present government in past five months.

Under the new visa policy, citizens of Britain, China, Turkey, Malaysia and the UAE can get Pakistani visa via e-mail by paying only $8.

In the first stage, these five countries will be given visa free access to Pakistan.

Moreover, citizens from 175 countries would have e-visa facility while citizens of 50 countries would enjoy visa on arrival facility.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said issuance of online visa in the country was a first step toward Naya Pakistan.

Earlier while launching an online visa regime to promote tourism and investments into the country, PM Khan said it was mindset believing acquisition of Pakistan's visa was a difficult task. "We need to change mindset of the investors so they could come to Pakistan and make an investment here," he added.

He stated that issuing of online visa is a major step towards bringing real change as it would open the country to the outside world. Imran Khan it also shows that Pakistan is a peaceful and stable country and open to the world for business and tourism.
