Govt For Rapid Industrialization In Country: Rana Tanveer

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Nov, 2016 ) : Federal Minister for Science, Technology and Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has said the government is determined to encourage and facilitate rapid industrialization in the country.
He said this while addressing an opening ceremony of a two- day international conference on "Advanced Materials and Emerging Technologies 2016 (ICAMET 2016)", arranged by Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in collaboration with Higher education Commission, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Punjab University here at the UET Chemical Engineering Hall on Monday.
He said increased automation and sophistication in developed technology has brought a global industrialization. So we should advance ourselves in each and every way of science and technology, he added.
The minister said many projects were in operation to cope with the energy crisis, because industrial material could not be produced without energy. He added the scope of material engineering was unlimited and has led to a significant increase in the range and depth of research and development in industrial world.
Therefore, there was a huge opportunity to explore this sector extensively for boosting the economy. Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid in his keynote speech said Material Sciences and Engineering has played a pivotal role in bringing about transformation in society because engineering starts with material.
"Today is era of switching from conventional techniques to modern approach in all walks of life. So it is need of time to channel the efforts of all stakeholders as per the requirement of the markets," he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that conference is comprised on presentation of 110 papers, 12 keynote lectures of different topic by the experts who are participating in this event from various countries like, the USA, France, Denmark, the UAE, Malaysia, Korea and etc.
At the end of inaugural session and in the presence of Dean Faculty of Chemical Engineering Prof Dr Nadeem Feroze, Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid and Minister for Science, Technology and Defense Production Rana Tanveer Hussain exchanged shields.
