Govt Gives Presentation On EVMs To ECP: Shibli Faraz

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz Wednesday said the government gave presentation on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and all its related things had been submitted with the ECP
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Sep, 2021 ) :Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz Wednesday said the government gave presentation on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and all its related things had been submitted with the ECP.
Talking to a private news channel, the minister said that some corrupt elements was opposing the usage of EVMs in the elections.
He said that the devices had been prepared according the the requirement of the ECP.
Shibli said the opposition even not touched the EVMs and was objecting its functions.
It was the mandate of ECP to prepare the EVMs as device was just an idea to hold fair, free and transparent election in the country.
The government wanted to use the EVMs as pilot project to upgrade it he said, adding the opposition was not interesting to apply the device in the by-election in different Constituencies.
Shibli said EVMs would not be connected with internet but 'Tappa Mafia' was very afraid of the device, adding the opposition just wanted to finish all cases of corruption against its leadership, he added.
Shibli urged the opposition to accept the EVMs to make elections process transparent.
