
Govt Mulls "Teacher Of The Month Awards"

KARACHI, A(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th August, 2016) : Sindh Minister for Education Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that a proposal to give "Teacher of the Month Award" for good performance in each district is under consideration.
He said that the objective of the award is to encourage the teachers' community. This he said while talking to a delegation here in his office on Wednesday, said a statement. MNA Dr.
Arif Alvi and MPA Samar Ali Khan were also part of the delegation. The Education Minister also agreed upon to make Reform Support Unit of education department is more effective. The system has been deteriorating for a long time and to improve it, we all have to work on the same page, he observed.
Unless we develop the concept of ownership of schools among the parents and the teachers we cannot help achieve our targets, he said.
He was of the view that major reforms were needed in education department while school Management Committees should be made effective.
The teachers, parents, students and members of the civil society could bring a change if worked together, he said. The members of the delegation drew attention of the Minister Education towards poor condition of the washrooms in government schools especially in girls schools, over the situation, the Minister Education assured the delegation that the issue would be resolved on priority basis.
He said that the structural issues would also be monitored because the education was a multi-dimensional sector and until and unless all sectors were focused we could not get success.
