Govt Spends Rs.4bln On Flood Protection Wall, Pavement Of Irrigation Channels In Swat: Minister

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Dec, 2016 ) : Provincial Minister for sports, Culture, Archealogy and Youth Affairs, Mehmood Khan said Tuesday that the government was spending about Rs4.5 billion on construction of flood protection walls and pavement of irrigation channels in Swat district.
Presiding over a high level meeting to review pace of works on ongoing projects in tehsil Matta in Swat district, the Minister directed the authorities concerned to expedite pace of works on the existing ongoing projects and ensure its timely completion without compromising on quality of works.
The Minister was briefed by SDO Irrigation Matta Suelman Khan about different mega uplifts projects including flood protections walls and pavement of banks of irrigation channels besides roads in Matta tehsil with about Rs4.
5billin cost.
He said majority of the projects have been completed and Bagh Dheri irrigation channel would be completed very soon that would irrigate 8500 acres arid land besides providing clean drinking water to over one lakh population.
The Minister was told that clean drinking water projects worth about Rs.2.5billion are being completed in PK 84 Matta. The Minister expressed satisfaction over pace of works and directed the officials to complete the remaining projects at earliest for people's benefits.
