
'Govt Taking Concrete Steps To Promote Clean, Renewable Energy'

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) The government was taking concrete steps to promote clean and renewable energy
across the region, said Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) South Punjab, Fuad Hashim
Rabbani.
Talking to the media during his visit to South Punjab’s largest solar energy exhibition
here on Sunday, he said that South Punjab was blessed with immense natural resources,
particularly abundant sunlight, which must be utilized effectively. He said the government
was rapidly converting hospitals, educational institutions, and government buildings to
solar energy to reduce electricity costs and promote environmentally sustainable solutions.
He highlighted that two major solar power plants were operational in South Punjab.
Among them, Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur was Pakistan’s first grid-connected
solar project while the second plant was install in Layyah district.
The ACS further said the government was also extending subsidies for solarization
of agricultural tube wells, enabling farmers to benefit from cost-effective and eco-friendly
power sources.
He said that both Federal and provincial governments were actively working to promote
electric vehicles, especially electric motorcycles, by formulating supportive policies,
offering tax incentives, and encouraging local manufacturing to establish a cleaner,
greener transportation system.
About solar energy exhibition, Rabbani emphasized that such exhibitions play a key
role in raising public awareness, attracting investment, and encouraging private sector
participation in the clean energy sector.
He appreciated all stakeholders in the solar energy ecosystem and expressed hope
that the exhibition would serve as a milestone in the promotion of clean energy across
South Punjab.
