Govt Taking Steps For Well-being Of Special Persons: Wahab

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Dec, 2018 ) :Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information and Archives, Law, Anti-Corruption and Establishment Barrister Murtaza Wahab Saturday said it is the top priority of the Sindh government to protect the rights of the disabled persons of the province.
Addressing a seminar here to mark International Disability Day, he said the Sindh government is well aware of the rights of the physically challenged persons.
He said the government is taking measures to protect the rights of the specially abled children and their well-being, said a press release issued here.
The adviser said the people with disabilities can specially contribute for the sustainable development of the society.
He mentioned that the Sindh government has passed a significant disability law for the special persons. He said almost all the incapacities have been included and defined in detail in the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act.
The adviser said following the passage of the law special persons shall have the right to inclusive education at all levels and in all public and private institutions.
He said the Act also addresses the problem of early identification and prevention of disabilities by ensuring implementation of the Sindh Newborn Screening Act, and increasing the capacity of provincial health workers.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab said the Sindh government in its efforts to provide quality health services to the people facing mental or physical incapacities has established trauma centers in various parts of the province.
He added these trauma centres will soon be established in all the districts of the province.
Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, addressing the seminar, appreciated the gesture shown by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
He told the audience that the Chief Minister handed over a cheque of Rs. 25mn to the Karachi Vocational Training Centre for the assistance of special persons.
