Govt To Increase Power Tariff By Rs 2

The increase in power tariff will put a burden of Rs 200 billion on the consumers.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th March, 2019) The government has decided to increase the electricity prices by Rs 2 per unit.
According to media reports, the prices will be increased following approval by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
The increase in power tariff will put a burden of Rs 200 billion on the consumers.
NEPRA had earlier increased the electricity prices by Rs 1.80 per unit.
The electricity tariff was increased under fuel adjustment formula for the month of January.
The decision put an additional burden of Rs 3.5 billion on electricity consumers.
Earlier, Power Division officials said that the demand of electricity has increased to 13857 Megawatt in the country while its production is 15500 Megawatt.
Load management according to schedule is done in the areas with power theft and line losses.
