Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi, while deploring Afghan authorities over delay in handing over body of slain SP Tahir Khan, has said the matter would be taken to logical conclusion.
Addressing a press conference here at Chief Minister Secretariat on Thursday, Shehryar Afridi said he came to Torkhem border on the instruction of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
"We waited there for more than two hours to receive the body but later Afghan authorities refused to hand over it, laments Shehryar Afridi.
Flanked by KP Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai, Spokesman for KP govt, Ajmal Wazir and brother of late Tahir Khan, Ahmadud Din Dawar, Shehryar said the Afghan authorities tried to do politics on the issue of handing over the body of Tahir Dawar.
"A responsible officer was killed and Afghan government was trying to negotiate over the matter," he added.
"Delay in handing over of the body was aimed at creating unrest in Pakistan," Minister for Interior maintained and asserted that investigation was being conducted and the culprits whether here or across the border would be brought to justice.
He also expressed concern over refusal of Afghan authorities to hand over the body of SP Tahir Khan to Pakistan's Consul General in Jalalabad.
The attitude of Afghan authorities was highly condemnable and deplorable, he reiterated.
"We will take up the issue diplomatically within the legal framework with the Afghan authorities," he maintained.
To a question, the minister said that apparently the motives behind assassination of SP Tahir Dawar seem to create unrest in Pakistan.
To another question, he said Afghan government should reconsider the attitude extended while handing over the body of SP Tahir Dawar.
In reply to a another question, he said that when the pictures of SP Tahir Dawar's assassination were displayed on social media, the Afghan government did not confirm the killing.
"Today we are fighting 5th generation declared cyber war where images are photo-shopped and any sweeping statements could not be given until something is confirmed." KP Spokesperson Ajmal Wazir told the press conference that the negotiation with Afghan authorities last for more than two hours, adding the Afghan authorities started negotiating and put on their demands in exchange of the body of slain SP Tahir Dawar.
Shaukat Yousafzai appreciated the brother and bereaved family of slain SP Tahir Dawar for their cooperating with the government and defusing the situation of agitation and unrest.
Earlier, the brother of SP Tahir Dawar said that his brother was attacked several times in past. He said that he was proud of his martyred brother. He demanded of the government to help him bringing the culprits to justice.
