ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2019 ) :Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Dr Zafar Mirza on Friday assured that the government will take innovative steps for improving health sector of the country.
Addressing the officials of the National Institute of Health (NIH) during his visit, the minister said that provision of health facilities to the masses and protecting them from various diseases was the responsibility of government.
He said that as per vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the ministry would take measures towards strengthening the healthcare delivery system. He said only policy of merit and transparency will be preferred and implemented.
He said the Ministry of National Health Services had been trying its level best to bring about improvement in the health sector and taking measures to further improve health facilities in various institutions.
He said that steps were also being taken to ensure provision of best medical facilities in the hospital and taking measures to bring about further improvement.
He said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan had shown keen interest in health infrastructure development and bringing positive change in the provision of quality healthcare delivery system for the people.
He said the government had been working to make Federal capital a model health city. He added that there was a plan to work on health tourism with the provision of modern health technology to the hospitals.
He said the government had planned to issue health card to a large number of people while the limit of card was also being increased.
Dr Zafar Mirza said that the role of NIH in controlling the spread of various diseases was crucial and assured that the ministry will allocate more resources for smooth functioning of this important national institution.
He said that the vaccine and research was being conducted in the NIH as per international standard.
Earlier, Executive Director NIH Maj Gen Z(Retd) Dr Aamir Ikram briefed the minister about functioning and performance of NIH.
