Ground breaking of KCR by end of 2017 : CM

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th May, 2017 ) ; Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said here Wednesday that the ground breaking of the city's one of the most ambitious projects, the Karachi Circular Railways will be held by end of this year.

Most of the work of this ambitious projects is in progress he said adding that as he is part of a high level delegation going to China in middle of this month, where he would also hold further negotiations with the Chinese side on implementation of KCR .

The Chief Minister expressed these views while addressing the launching ceremony of a documentary "Pak-China Friendship, Real Transformation to People's Life," prepared by the Consul General of the People's Republic of China, Karachi.

The Chief Minister said that during his last visit to Beijing in December 2016, he had succeeded in incorporating KCR in CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridors). Since then the Sindh Government has taken a number of initiatives for its revival.

The Chief Minister said that there were a number of projects undertaken in the country including Sindh province with Chinese cooperation in various areas of economy, beside energy, infrastructure development, etc.

The Chief Minister pointed out that during his upcoming visit to China he will avail the opportunity to hold further negotations with the Chinese side on various projects in progress in Sindh. Tracing the history of Sino-Pak relationship, the Chief Minister said that it was the Chairman of PPP late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who laid the foundation of China-Pakistan friendship.

The Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlaid were close friend of ZA Bhutto. He said that later Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari further deepened and consolidated these relationship.

Earlier, the Consul General of PRC Wang Yu in his address said that the objective of preparing the documentary was to highlight the deep cooperative relationship between Pakistan and China. The 20-minute documentary included various projects launched in the country as well as in Sindh province in cooperation with China for the benefit of common men.

These projects included infrastructure development, finance, people-to-people relations, cultural, teaching of Chinese language. He said that an important Summit on One Belt One Road (OBOR) is being hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on May 14-15 in which a high level delegation from Pakistan including Chief Minister of Sindh will also attend.

The summit will be attended by as many as 28 head of states, representatives from 61 organizations, 110 media persons besides 1200 guests. He said that projects under CPEC will not only benefit the two countries but it will be beneficial for the whole region. The function was culminated with traditional Chinese cultural dances.
