Haji Abdul Wahab Passes Away At 96

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Nov, 2018 ) :Ameer of Tableeghi Jamaat, Haji Abdul Wahab died here on Sunday after a prolonged illness at the age of 96 years here at Riawind.

His funeral prayers will be offered at Raiwind Ijtema Haveli after Maghrib prayers. Keeping in view the heavy rush of people attending the funeral prayer of great Islamic preacher, the Lahore Traffic Police has also chalked out a comprehensive traffic plan for convenience of the participants.

Haji Abdul Wahab was born in the suburban area of Delhi, India, on January 1,1923. Later, he graduated from Islamia College, Lahore and joined the Civil Service as a Tehsildar in pre-partition India.

He had also been affiliated with Majlis-e-Ahrar-e-Islam in his youth.

After being inspired by the oration of Maulana Ilyas Kandehlvi, the founder of Tableeghi Jamaat, he went on to become Islamic preacher after joining the Jamaat in 1944 during the life of Ilyas Kandhlawi.

Upon joining the Tableeghi Jamaat at an early stage of his life, he decided to spend his remaining life in Tableegh (Dawah) and was with Maulana Ilyas till his death. He had however left his job later to ensure his active participation and role in the Tableeghi Jamaat.

Haji Abdul Wahab was stated to be a direct companion of Maulana Ilyas and one of the first five people in Pakistan, who offered their entire life for Tabligeehi Jamaat. Haji Abdul Wahab succeeded Haji Muhammad Bashir as Ameer of Tableeghi Jamaat, Pakistan, in 1992.

Haji Abdul Wahab migrated to Pakistan after 1947 along with a few other companions and founded Madarssa Arabia near Raiwind Railway Junction.

Based in Jamaat's Markaz (headquarters) in Raiwind, he was head of Shura (council) as well as a member of the movement's Aalmi Shura (World Council) based in Nizamuddin, Delhi India.

He went on to visit every province and village of Pakistan for Tableegh with a main objective to remind the Muslims of their real purpose of life and to teach them Kalma and Namaz (prayer) at an early stage along with getting education, respecting humanity and sparing time for Tableegh.

According to City Traffic Police (CTP) plan, the people can use the different roads to reach the venue of funeral prayer- Ijtema Haveli, including from Raiwind Thokar Niaz Beg to Pajiyan; Sundar Adda to Ijtema Pulli via Band Road; Manga Pulli to Ijtema Pulli; Raiwind to Sabzi Mandi to Ijtema Pulli via Bara Masjid Chowk; Ferozpur Road to Raiwind City via Soo-i-Aasil; Chungi Amar Siddhu to Raiwind via Chandrai (from Gawala Colony Balloki Road); Madar-e-Millat Road Mor at Hidyat Pind Kachha Phatak to Raiwind via Balloki Road; Shaukat Khanum Hospital to Raiwind via areas of Qadar Topaz, Shanoo Baba, Lake City and then Defence Road to Bajiyan to Raiwind; and Thokar Niaz Beg to Ijtema Haveli via canal road, Behria Town, Sui Gas Housing Society Phase-II, Sharif Medical Complex and Sundar.

The participants of the funeral prayer can park their vehicle at the designated places icnluding Parking lot of Din Mills and Nisar Mills; Zafa Road opposite Ijtema Haveli; people coming from Lahore-Raiwind Road can park their cars in the parking lots adjacent to Pulli No. 2, 3, 4 and 5, while those coming from Manga Pulli will park their vehicles in the parking lot near Pulli No. 7.
