Health Officials Directed To Boost Up Dengue Surveillance

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2018 ) :Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Ali Bahadur Qazi has directed the field officers to play their active role in dengue surveillance as there are strong possibilities of dengue larva breeding due to monsoon season.
He directed to boost up surveillance activities in union councils and towns of high risk districts including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala.
He expressed these views while addressing a video link meeting here on Friday, regarding dengue control, polio, measles, routine immunization coverage and medical relief activities related to expected flood.
He ordered all the CEOs to recruit contingent paid staff on daily wages only for dengue season which help to improve surveillance. He said that caretaker government was taking all possible steps for dengue control and completing all necessary arrangements for expected flood.
Ali Bahadur Qazi said that there was no ban on recruitment of medical officers and consultants on adhoc bases so that the department should immediately fulfill these recruitments in all health facilities.
He also directed to improve coverage of routine immunization, measles and polio.
The Secretary Health also reviewed availability of medicines stock in health facilities and other necessary arrangements for expected flood.
Director General Health Services Dr. Munir Ahmed briefed the department had constituted 1,267 fixed and mobile teams, consisted on a doctor, lady health visitor, vaccinator and support staff to provide relief to the public in the flood relief camps. He also highlighted the steps taken for improvement in coverage of polio, measles and routine immunization.
Special Secretary Health Dr. Aisha Masood, Director Dengue Control Programme Dr.Saeed, Director CDC, CEO HealthLahore and officers from health department were also present.
