ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jan, 2019 ) :President Dr Arif Alvi Tuesday underlined the significance of promotion of sports and other healthy activities and said that a healthy society could play an important role in the development of a country.

He was talking to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association president Qamar Zaman who called on him, a press release said.

The President observed that squash had always been the popular game of Pakistan and the country had won many laurels in this sport by remaining a consecutive champion for 37 years.

He expressed the confidence that the youth of the country would once again prove their mettle in this genre of game and assured that the government was committed to improving availability of facilities in the field of sports.

He also stressed upon the need for provision of respectable employment opportunities to theplayers.
