Huawei Hands Over 300 Computers To Islamabad Police

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Oct, 2016 ) : Huawei Pakistan Tuesday handed over 300 advanced desktop computers to the Islamabad Police under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Addressing the handing over ceremony held here, Managing Director (Defence Security) of the company Brig (R) Asif Mehmood said the firm was collaborating with government departments and law enforcement agencies, providing them information and communication technology solutions.
He said his company, which was also supplying modern equipment under the Safe City project, was eager to collaborate in similar projects in major cities of the country and all along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route.
In addition, he said, 1,000 police officials would be imparted training so that they could use the modern gadgets in an effective manner and produce desired results. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) Khalid Khattak thanked the company for providing computers under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reached between it and the Ministry of Interior in June this year.
He said the computers would help capacity building of the department as these would be used to improve connectivity among all police stations of the Federal capital.
He said record of police stations was being computerized and complainants were issued copies of FIRs in a printed form, adding that the compiled data would be kept in a main server.
The DIG said all officials concerned would have direct access to the data, which would help ensure improved monitoring system and increase efficiency of the police department. Among others, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Kashif Alam and Senior Superintendent of Police (Security) Mir Waiz Niaz also attended the ceremony.
Managing Director of the company Asif Mehmood presented a memento to DIG Khalid Khattak, who also presented a gift to the MD on behalf of Inspector General of Islamabad Police. Later, IGP Tariq Masood Yasin, who was busy in other engagements, joined the ceremony and thanked the company for giving computers to the police department.
He took round of different departments, being run under the Safe City project, and apprised the participants about their working. He also shared views on the modern control room, being set up to monitor emergencies, and a state of the art mobile van available with the department to maintain law and order.
