Hussain Haroon for introduction of new technologies for water conservation

The former caretaker foreign minister and ex-diplomat Hussain Haroon has emphasized upon the engineers to introduce new technology and concept for water conservation in order to save Pakistan from impacts of water crisis.

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Dec, 2018 ) :The former caretaker foreign minister and ex-diplomat Hussain Haroon has emphasized upon the engineers to introduce new technology and concept for water conservation in order to save Pakistan from impacts of water crisis.

Speaking as chief guest at the annual general body of Mehran University Alumni Association, he said that water crisis could jeopardize Pakistan in the next 40 or 50 years therefore it was the high time to make sincere efforts for preservation of water with its efficient management in order to save the destiny of the future generation of the country.

The world has adopted new technologies in irrigation system but no change has been witnessed in Pakistan where the old irrigation system of British rule still exist, he said and emphasized the need of introducing new system of irrigation with utilization of advanced technologies.

He also underlined the need of adopting alternate sources for power generation instead of utilization of coal, claiming the coal based power projects causing environmental issues in the world.

The time is running with rapid pace and there is the need that engineers of Pakistan should meet the challenges of the modern world by introducing new trends in water sector, he said and hoped that the engineers of Mehran University whose services were being acknowledged across the world could do their best in this regard.

The Vice Chancellor Mehran University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Uqaili who is also the Patron-in-Chief of the Alumni Association said that public sector universities are the major sources of providing higher education to poor students.

He said that Mehran University with its limited resources has been engaged in providing quality education to the future generation and the graduates who have been passed out from the university were playing their due role for the development of the country.

There is the need that the graduates working abroad should provide financial assistance to public sector universities so that poor and deserving students could get scholarships and continue their higher education, he said and added that faculty members, officers and employees of Mehran University were regularly contributing in the university's fund every month which was being spent for building the future of poor and deserving students of the university.

Among others, Dr. Bhawani Shankar Choudhry and Engineer Hussain Mousvi also addressed the annual general body of the alumni association.
