I will take back 100 times more love I had brought to Pakistan: Sidhu

Says the love I got from Pakistan was with compound interest, giving us infinite possibilities which can actually unify us

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th August, 2018) Najvot Singh Sidhu accompanied by Faisal Javed Khan, Ramiz Raja and Vikram Mehta, talked to media after meeting Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“I had brought a message of peace from India. Today, I feel I am taking back 100 times the love I had brought here. The love I got from Pakistan was with compound interest, giving us infinite possibilities which can actually unify us,” Sidhu said.

“Punjab means the land of five rivers. Two are with Pakistan, Two are with us while Ravi is on both sides of the border. Lahore and Amritsar are twin cities,” he further said.

He went on to say, “I didn’t want to make any political statement. Today, when COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa came to me, he said we want peace.”

“You take one step, we will take two. That’s how it is,” he said, adding, “For how long will we swim in the red ocean. Let us swim in the blue ocean, let us shun red ocean,” he added.

Vikram Singh Mehta, who was Imran Khan and Benazir Bhutto's class fellow in Oxford University, said, “I know Imran Khan for 45 years. We joined Oxford University the same year, we were in the same class.”

“I am not a politician but when I received the invitation to attend Mr.

Imran Khan’s swearing in, I felt delighted. The invitation was a testament of friendship that does not recognise the partition, and the boundaries of religion.”

Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, who arrived in Pakistan on Friday, met Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan in Islamabad today.

Sidhu shook hands with the army chief and hugged him. They then talked for some time.

Sidhu, who was wearing a dark blue suit and a pink turban, sat next to AJK President Masood Khan at the ceremony.

Sidhu arrived in Lahore on Friday via the Wagah border from where he travelled to Islamabad to attend Imran Khan's oath-taking ceremony.

After getting mandatory clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs, Sidhu was overwhelmed to have received a call from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Before crossing over to Wagah, Sidhu expressed his feelings, “Hindustan jive te Pakistan jive, hasda wasda eh sara jahan jive........te aan baan shaan naal.....pyar aman te khushhali ban ke mera yaar Imran Khan jive.”

Sidhu has carried a special ‘Pashmina shawl’ for Khan as a gift. Sidhu has got a 15-day visa for Lahore and Islamabad.
