IG Islamabad directs SHOs to improve performance, sets 7-day review deadline

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2025) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, on Friday night held a meeting with SHOs of all police stations in the capital to review performance, crime control efforts and public complaint handling, during which he issued warnings to five officers and set a seven-day deadline for improvement.

An official told APP on Saturday that IG Rizvi instructed that police stations must serve as centers of justice and public service, emphasizing the importance of treating visitors with respect and upholding the dignity of women.

He emphasized that all applications must be processed within the stipulated time under the SOP protocol, adding that negligence in duty would not be tolerated.

The IGP Rizvi urged officers to handle administrative matters professionally, making it clear that SHOs will be held accountable for every task within their jurisdictions.

He directed SHOs to ensure optimal utilization of allocated funds, noting that the welfare of every police officer remains a top priority.

Underscoring the importance of visibility, he stressed that police presence should be apparent across all jurisdictions, with emergency responses being swift and effective.

He called for proactive night patrolling to monitor suspicious elements and deter crime.

Highlighting specific concerns, the IGP Rizvi ordered strict legal action against land grabbers, drug dealers, aerial firing, and the open display of weapons. He further called for the arrest of proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

To strengthen crime prevention, he recommended adopting an effective coordination strategy.

According to the official, five SHOs have been given time to improve their performance, and a detailed review of all SHOs will be conducted after seven days.
