MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jan, 2019 ) -:The business of illegal LPG refilling was ongoing unchecked across the district risking life and creating troubles for the people.

Hundreds of shopkeepers were refilling LPG cylinders in different markets and streets of the city. The business was also on rise in suburbs of the city. The shopkeepers were selling the LPG on high rates--at Rs130 to 180 per kg.

A shopkeeper Imtiaz told APP, they used to purchase the gas at Rs 120 per kg and sold it at Rs 130 per kg to the consumers. However, the price was high in suburban areas: LPG was being sold at Rs 160 to 180 per kg in these areas.

Another shopkeeper, Rasheed Ahmed said that he was getting reasonable profits from the business.

A citizen Khawar informed that he was purchasing LPG at Rs 170 from a shop for kitchen use. He said there was no proper check on the rates of the LPG,adding that he got the gas at Rs 175 and 180.

He urged the authorities concerned to keep proper check and balance on rates for providing relief to masses.

On the other hand, the demand of LPG has risen due to recent rain spell in the area.
