SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Aug, 2024) Citizens have appealed to the district administration to remove illegal parking stands set up in various bazaars of the city as they are facing problems while shopping.
Sargodha has been transformed into a makeshift cycle stand, with illegal parking stands popping up on almost every road, Muhammad Azhar Hussain, a citizen, told APP here on Saturday. These unauthorized stands are charging exorbitant fees ranging from Rs30 to Rs50, he said. Representatives of trader union also raised serious concerns about the administration’s decision to allow the parking stands. They expressed their anger over permission to set up parking stands on roads and accused the authorities of exploiting citizens. A representative of city’s trader union, Muhammad Akhtar, demanded that the Chairman of the Municipal Corporation and the Commissioner of Sargodha should allocate designated parking areas on government land to alleviate the burden on the public.
He highlighted the severe traffic congestion, especially during the scorching summer months, when people are forced to spend hours in traffic jams. In stark contrast, high-ranking officials enjoy the privilege of swiftly passing through the congested areas, he alleged.
Traders and citizens suggested that the Municipal Corporation should develop a comprehensive plan to convert vacant spaces in blocks 4, 5, and 2 into designated motorcycle stands, providing much-needed relief to citizens. The issue has sparked outrage among the residents of Sargodha, who demanded immediate action from the authorities to address the pressing problem.
